Mars-Venus in Aries as Women Reach for Power in Iceland and Beyond

Last night's sunset sky show was more than just a beautiful conjunction of the Moon, Mercury and Pleiades and symbolized a heralding of change on the planet. Pleiades which has been intimately connected with ancient and indigenous cultures from the Mayan to Dyaks of Borneo to the Berbers of North Africa and to the early Arabic nations. They all believed the "seven sisters" were a central hub of the universe and the seat of immortality. According to the Maya, our solar system rotates around Alcyone, the central star of the Pleiades, in a 26,000 year period; (Note that this last part, about our solar system rotating around Alcyone has been proven incorrect).
In Greek mythology, the Pleiades, meaning the doves, was the name given to the seven daughters of Atlas and Pleione, daughter of Oceanus (one of the Titans). Their names were Electra, Maya, Taygete, Alcyone, Celaeno, Sterope and Merope.

Several of the most prominent male Olympian gods (including Zeus, Poseidon, and Ares) engaged in affairs with the seven heavenly sisters. These relationships resulted in the birth of children.

1. Maia, eldest of the seven Pleiades, was mother of Hermes by Zeus and Iris by Thaumas.
2. Electra was mother of Dardanus and Iasion by Zeus.
3. Taygete was mother of Lacedaemon, also by Zeus.
4. Alcyone was mother of Hyrieus by Poseidon.
5. Celaeno was mother of Lycus and Eurypylus by Poseidon.
6. Sterope (also Asterope) was mother of Oenomaus by Ares.
7. Merope, youngest of the seven Pleiades, was wooed by Orion. In other mythic contexts she married Sisyphus and, becoming mortal, faded away. She bore to Sisyphus several sons.

All of the Pleiades except Merope consorted with gods.
After Atlas was forced to carry the heavens on his shoulders, Orion began to pursue all of the Pleiades, and Zeus transformed them first into doves, and then into stars to comfort their father. The constellation of Orion is said to still pursue them across the night sky.

Now that I have set the stage let's look back a couple of months.
Around the time of the annular solar eclipse - January 26, 2009, with strong Aquarian planetary lineup - you may have seen news of the world getting it's first gay leader in Iceland.
Johanna Sigurdardottir, a former air hostess, was sworn in as Iceland's Prime Minister right after the collapse of Iceland's grossly over-leveraged economy .

Now in April with our current Taurus new moon @ 5 degrees square the Solar eclipse @ 6 degrees Aquarius, women are beginning to step into power. why now? Is it because the patriarchy is collapsing along with the economy. Yes of course but more importantly both Mars and Venus (ingress on April 24th) are the warrior sign Aries. Venus turned retrograde on March 6th and finally stationed direct on April 17th. issues dealing with both women and feminine rights surfaced from Afghanistan to Iowa. My feeling is that many other signs are starting to surface that women via a new
matriarchal presence is coming to our planet.

Women Reach for Power in Iceland - BusinessWeek

A Sustainable Economy is Needed
From the article above: "At Audur, there's a simple recipe for success. "We've brought greater female values into the financial world," says Halla. The company isn't interested in investments that quickly generate high yields. Instead, they focus on sustainable investments in projects that make as much sense socially and environmentally as they do for the investors themselves. The women call their business maxim "emotional capital," or "profit with principles." But is that a recipe that can be enough to get Iceland out of its current mess?"
